Sonya Camarco charged with Fraud by SEC

SEC alleges over $400,000 in client funds used to pay credit card bills

The securities attorneys at The Law Office of David Liebrader have opened an investigation into the securities related conduct of Sonya Camarco (aka Sonya Fatchett), a licensed FINRA registered representative from Colorado Springs, Colorado, formerly affiliated with LPL Financial Services.

Sonya Camarco has been FINRA licensed to sell securities since 1993, and had been affiliated with LPL Financial Services since February, 2004.  She was terminated in August, 2017.  Prior to that Cabrera worked for Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and Merrill Lynch.

FINRA hosts a database that the public can access to check the credentials of their financial advisors.  The website, also known as broker check contains a listing for Sonya Camarco, who is reported to have been discharged from LPL Financial in August, 2017 for allegedly depositing client checks into an account she controlled and (according to the SEC) using the funds to pay credit card bills and purchase a house in her living trust.

The Securities and Exchange Commission sued Camarco in August 2017 .  The charges in the complaint describe a scheme whereby Camarco, over the course of thirteen years misappropriated client funds from LPL accounts, and diverted them for her own personal use.  According to the SEC, Camarco misappropriated nearly three million dollars, and when confronted by clients about the missing funds, claimed that she had made investments in a private fund on their behalves.

The SEC alleges that Camarco made unauthorized liquidations of client investments, then forged client signatures to carry out her scheme.  Asa result, on August 23, 2017 the SEC charged her with fraud with a filing in U.S. District Court in Colorado.
